

Fighting the Metabolic Syndrome Award (Not offered in 2009 - 2010)
The increasing age of the U.S. population, combined with the fact that more than one half of adults are overweight or obese, it is estimated that about 47 million adults alone have metabolic syndrome. The Fighting the Metabolic Syndrome Award rewards those who have made significant advancements in reducing the multiple risk factors associated with metabolic syndrome, and improving clinical outcomes for those afflicted with this syndrome.
The recipient of this $10,000 award will be an osteopathic physician, center, or program that has utilizied an innovative approach to reducing the prevalence of metabolic syndrome.
THIS AWARD WILL NOT BE OFFERED DURING 2010. THE AOF HOPES TO SECURE FUNDING FOR 2011.
